Joyce Marie Vanhorn (Deshotels), lovingly known as "Joy're", 69, of Batesville, Arkansas, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, in Batesville.
She was born on October 22, 1956, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, daughter of the late Rodney and Marie Suzanne (Zernott) Deshotels, she carried her Cajun roots with pride throughout her life. Joy're was united in marriage to Tom Vanhorn on June 11, 1983 in Washington, Louisiana.
Joy're dedicated many years of service to ConAgra, where her strong work ethic and warm spirit left a lasting impression. Above all, she was a loving and devoted mother to all of her children, always putting family first.
A woman of strong Christian faith, Joy're had a heart as big as her smile. She never met a stranger—her kindness and genuine warmth made everyone feel welcome and loved. Those who knew her will always remember her sweet personality and the joy she brought into every room.
Her bond with Chance (“Boo”) was truly special and inseparable, a reflection of the deep love she shared with those closest to her.
Joy're is survived by her husband, Tom Vanhorn of Batesville; sons, Scott (Lauren) Vanhorn of Batesville, Chance Vanhorn of Batesville and Ryan (Shelby) Vanhorn of Sulphur Rock; daughter, Candice (Bucky) Gunther of Batesville; stepdaughters, Tammy Vanhorn of New Athens, Illinois and Tomza Vanhorn of Bernie, Missouri; brothers, Keith Deshotels of Garland, Louisiana and Dwight Deshotels of Arnaudville, Louisiana; sister, Lydia (Brian) Guidroz of Opelousas, Louisiana; grandchildren, Jacie Jo, Lainie and Addie Vanhorn, Gavyn and soon to be Everleigh Vanhorn; three step grandchildren; a host of nieces; nephews; grand nieces; and grand nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; brother, Ronnie Deshotels and sister, Suzanne Guillet.
Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, at The Rock Outreach Church in Cushman, Arkansas.
Memorial service will be Friday, April 10, 2026, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at The Rock Outreach Church in Cushman, Arkansas, with Steve Gunther officiating.
