James Nicholas
Gray
Aug 22, 1986 — Jun 23, 2026
James Nicholas Gray, 39, of Batesville, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at his home in Batesville. He was born on August 22, 1986, in Blytheville, Arkansas, to Kevin L. Gray and Vickie Day Ballard George.
Nick was one of the smartest individuals who viewed the world differently. He analyzed everything, considered every angle, and noticed details that most people would miss completely. He had a curious mind and a genuine love of learning that stayed with him throughout his life.
He was brilliant, confident, and determined, but he never took himself too seriously. He could laugh at himself just as easily as he could laugh with everyone else.
Nick had a gift in making everyone around him feel noticed, valued, and important. You always felt welcome in his presence.
Nick loved many things in life. He loved cooking, fishing, firearms, reading, and spending time with his friends. But above all else, he loved his mother, Vickie, and the bond they shared was something truly special. Nick would have done anything for her. She wasn’t just his mother—she was his heart. His devotion to her was a living example of what love, respect, and gratitude should look like. And anyone who knew them knew that the love went both ways.
The world is a little less bright without him in it, but every one is better because of having the privilege of knowing him.
Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Vickie, of the home; his brother, Brandon Ford, of Austin, Arkansas; his extended family members; and his many friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Kevin Gray.
