Listen to Obituary

Charles William Souders, Jr., 87, of Newark, Arkansas, departed this life on Sunday, October 11, 2026, in Batesville.  He was born on January 23, 1939, in Kings Mills, Ohio, to Charles William Souders, Sr. and Marie White Souders.

Charles was family man who worked diligently at the steel mills and would take his family on week long trips every month during his time off from the mill. He loved to travel and was able to take his family to all fifty states.  He also enjoyed gardening with his father, and together they would plant numerous tomato plants of which he never ate any tomatoes.  He was a knife and coin collector and was known to rabbit hunt and coach softball. Charles loved animals and assisted many humane societies with his generous donations.  He was a Mason and a Shriner and served our country in the Marines.

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Mark Allen Souders, of Conway, Arkansas; his daughter, Kim (Tom) Mullins, of Newark, Arkansas; his grandchildren, Casey and her husband, Casey, Daymude and William and Madison Mullins, all of Marshall, Arkansas; two great grandchildren, Isabella and Charlie; nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Charles is preceded in death by his wife of thirty-nine years, Irene; his parents; his brothers and sisters, Jimmy Souders, Shirley Wagner, Joanna Lehman, and Pam Souders.
